Lolita 52 Challenge - Week 2

5 Movies for Lolitas

  1. Kamikaze Girls (2004, Tetsuya Nakashima
This one is obvious, and will probably always be in lists like this. It is the most mainstream movie in Western culture that actually features a real lolita in the film. It is fun, quirky, and entertaining. I enjoy watching it sometimes for the amusement of how most of the things Momoko (the main character) does is considered "ita" now.
  2. The Duchess (2008, Saul Dibb)
I love historical costume dramas, and this is one of my favorites. The styling used for Knightley's costumes in the movie are amazing, and the drama is fantastic.
  3. Elizabeth (1998, Shekhar Kapur)
Again, historical costume dramas FTW. My favorite historical period is anything Tudor related, and this movie definitely does Elizabeth's story justice. The whole movie is just beautiful.
  4. Black Swan (2010, Darren Aronofsky)
I love Portman in this suspenseful film, with wonderful costumes and storyline.
  5. Labyrinth (1986, Jim Henson)
Growing up, I definitely viewed this movie as a fairytale romance, with stunning visuals (including of course, David Bowie)
